Mountain Flying Course
Expand your flying horizons and experience flying into some of the highest airports in the United States. Completing the mountain course satisfies the mountain aircraft rental requirements.
Lesson 1
Includes one hour of ground covering aircraft performance, mountain flying technique and physiological effects. This hour of ground will be followed by a flight over Corona Pass to Winter Park and Granby. Focus will be on finding and recognizing sources of lift, ridge crossing technique and high altitude performance.
Lesson 2
Includes one hour of ground covering preflight preparation, cross country planning, and mountain flying technique. The second lesson will include a cross country flight into a choice of airports including Aspen, Glenwood Springs, Leadville, Telluride, Steamboat and Durango. This flight provides a true mountain cross country experience.
